updated as soon as they arrive. This week is the last of the

season for the Ladies & Thursday matches, plus a few

postponed yet to be played. Senior Cits continue for longer.

the Wirral on Saturday 16th August.

SUNDAY 24 AUGUST 8.30am Only 2 weeks left for the Ladies & Thursday Leagues.

Senior Cits still has a further 5 games to go.

Please get your result cards to me ASAP following the

match. Meanwhile you can find out your league

progress towards honours or relegation by looking

at the latest league tables now fully updated with

all results received.

TUESDAY 19 AUGUST 1.30 pm Late update includes all results in by today.

There are still a few outstanding matches to be rearranged,

please sort them out quickly and notify me.

I do try to make sure all match results and details

are entered correctly. Should you spot an error

or omission, please tell me immediately.

THURSDAY 14 AUGUST 11.30pm Early update for this week. I will be unable

to update any more results until (probably)

Tuesday of next week.

Current update includes all results received

up to today.

SUNDAY 10 AUGUST In spite of the heavy rain on Thursday night, I have so far only

been advised of 4 unfinished matches. 1 was played on Friday night,

1 is to be played on Tuesday, and 2 are yet to be advised. There are

a further 8 results missing, which may arrive on Monday. If your

match was rained off please let me know, and more importantly,

get it rearranged ASAP.

DO NOT FIX IT FOR A DATE AFTER END OF SEASON

SUNDAY 10 AUGUST Message from Competition Secretary Scott Deakin

Further to comments made elsewhere, I believe this needs clearing up and would ask anyone competing in any of the

merits/finals over the next 3 weeks to please take note of the below.

The dress code will be in force for all of these competitions and the officials in charge will refuse to let any competitor

who fails to follow the dress code the opportunity to participate in the relevant final.

Not much is asked, just smart trousers (ie. No jeans, tracksuits,football shirts) and a collared shirt / t-shirt.

SUNDAY 3 AUGUST Not much of the season left now, only a few weeks to go. Time Flies!!

You can check out your teams league position from the website tables,

and assess what you have to do to gain success or relative failure.

I will update as soon as possible each week, so make sure your results

are sent in ASAP.

There are still 5 postponed matches to be played, 2 Ladies/2 Thur/1 SC.

Get them rearranged and played soon. All matches to be rearranged

before the final date for that league.

WEDNESDAY 30 JULY A PERSONAL APPEAL FROM GEOFF WILLETTS

In addition to my interest in the playing of Crown Green Bowls,

and it's administration, in which I have participated since about 1960,

one of my other main pastimes has been as Secretary/Treasurer of

WORDSLEY & DISTRICT DOMINO LEAGUE for the past 25 years.

Some of you may have seen the recent press & TV coverage of the

league appeal for new teams to join in the coming season, scheduled

to start in the autumn.

We play on Friday nights, and a minimum of 5 players only is required.

(5 singles & 2 doubles in the match).

If you may be interested, and would like further details, please contact,

me or just attend the meeting, which will be held on

SUNDAY 27 JULY Following last week's best results return, we are back to bad ways again,

only 12 results received by post on Saturday, still 16 missing.(Thursday)

All available info now ready to view, further updates when I get them.

FINAL REMINDER - NO NEW PLAYER REGISTRATIONS

WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THURSDAY 31 JULY.

SUNDAY 20 JULY Only 3 Thursday results to come in. Best return this season so far.

Only 11 days to the player registration deadline 31 July.

I do get quite a few favourable comments about the website from

around the green, if you have any to add constructively,

(likes or dislikes) I will be happy to get them.

SUNDAY 13 JULY All the received results now entered and ready to view, 9 missing will be

entered ASAP. Peter Barnes Doubles Finalists list went missing from last

week.(or was it another senior moment???). Anyway, thanks to one of our

alert bowlers for pointing out the error, and it is there now.

These notes and all results completed by 9.00am today, but after several

attempts up to about 11.00am the system would not allow me to update.

Now at 8.10pm I am about to try again, let's hope for success.

MONDAY 7 JULY Remaining results received & entered. Senior Cits Challenge Cup Qtr Final

draw and Peter Barnes Finalists now ready to view.

SUNDAY 6 JULY All results received now entered and ready to view. Still a few missing.

Will update as soon as received. Season already well into the second half.

New players are still being registered, but remember that the deadline for new

registrations is Thursday 31st July. No more after this date.

If you suspect that there is an error in any of the information presented on

the Tables, Results etc; please do not hesitate to let me know, and I will check

them out.

WEDNESDAY 2 JULY Ladies Doubles Competition Draw for Div 1 & Div 2 & 3 now on competitions page.

SUNDAY 29 JUNE All results received up to today are now ready to view. The post

service has become more regular, but there are still only about

2/3rd of the Thursday cards being received by Saturday, is this

the post service, or some clubs being lax in getting them into the post??

I have already issued fines for 3 unregistered players this season, resulting

in 1 team losing the match they had won. This compares with only 3 U/R

fines all last season. Be sure new players put into your team are registered

before you play them.

I have been getting some favourable comments regarding the new

"Allbutt System" mostly from contacts around the greens, but I would

welcome any constructive views through the email system or by phone.

SUNDAY 22 JUNE As the saying goes "Time flies when your having fun", is sure

to be right. The Ladies & Thursday leagues have now completed

half of their fixtures, and the Senior Cits get to halfway on Wednesday.

Yesterday was the longest day of the year, and we now start the

seasonal decline in evening light. All this, and still we wait for the

weather to start looking like summer. Apart from the odd day occasionally,

we have had nothing to really convince us that this is a summer game.

Enjoy what's left anyway.

MONDAY 16 JUNE Only 3 out of 4 results arrived today. Now updated. (1.05pm)

SUNDAY 15 JUNE Only 4 Thursday results missing from last week. Postal delivery

8.15 am has improved lately. All results now entered and ready to view.

Please report any suspected errors immediately.

TUESDAY 10 JUNE All last weeks results now entered and ready to view. ( 1.30pm )

THURSDAY 5 JUNE

All results received today are now updated, but there will be no

more until Tuesday, as I have other commitments for the weekend.

A very good return today, all Ladies results in, and only 4 Seniors

missing.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

SATURDAY 31 MAY

Early report this week, approx 2/3rd of Thursday results in by about

11.30 today. No bowling today, so now all done until Monday.

This week a club has been fined for playing an unregistered player,

and this also reversed the result of the match. They lost at home after the

walkover adjustment had been made. I know that it was not deliberate

by the offending club, but just a silly error. Be sure you're not the next one.

WEDNESDAY 28 MAY

No !! I have not been ignoring you all, or sitting back doing nothing.

Since my report last Saturday I have been waiting for the remainder of

the Thursday night results from 22 May. I knew there would be none on

Monday (Bank Holiday), but I did expect them on Tuesday, however the

Mail Service decided otherwise, and the only mail I received that day was

1 item of junk mail. I have however received 10 cards today, delivered after

1.00pm when I had left to play bowls in the Senior Cits league. They have

now all been processed, and are ready to view.

Still missing 1 result from Thurs 22 May Div 4 Kings Cons A v Old Cross B

and 1 result from Thurs 15 May Div 7 Gate v Priory HCons B.

If anyone can tell me anything about these 2 matches, I would like to hear

from you.

SATURDAY 24 MAY

Some improvement in postal service this week, but still below what

should be. (Approx 60% of total.) All results received this week, now

processed and ready to view.

THURSDAY 22 MAY

TUESDAY 20 MAY

16 of the outstanding 18 Thursday result cards received today.

Div 5 Langley B v Baggeridge B & Div 7 Gate v Priory HCons B still missing.

I would be interested to know when and where these were posted???

MONDAY 19 MAY

10 Thursday + 2 Sen Cit + 1 Lad result cards received today, 1.15 pm.

Still 18 Thursday + 1 SC to come.

SATURDAY 17 MAY

Not much to report this week.

No Ladies League matches.

Senior Cits results incomplete due to 3 cards still missing. 2 cards received by post today.

Thursday - 4 results hand delivered. Only 1 result received today by post, and that on an

Oldbury League match card (stamp attached).

Not 1 result card delivered today on the yellow prepaid cards, from a possible 29.

Just what is the Royal Mail playing at.

We certainly don't seem to be getting value for money!!!

When they do eventually arrive, I will process them as soon as possible.

TUESDAY 13 MAY

All results received up to 12.00noon today are now entered into the system and ready to view.

SUNDAY 4 MAY

Well into the season now and the tables are taking shape. I hope you are taking

advantage of the new 'Allbut' results and reporting system. It is a far more informative

and comprehensive system than we have had available in previous seasons.

I would appreciate your feed back and comments.

The match result cards have been coming in quite well in the last couple of weeks, generally

at times when I would normally expect them. There are however, a few that are still delayed

a little and I am not convinced that it is the mail service at fault. Please urge your captains to

get them into the post box immediately following the match.

There are a few Thursday results missing this week. Some were due to the bad weather on

Thursday night which only affected certain areas. I have been informed of 5 but there are still

another 5 not yet received. Please make sure that you notify me whenever a match is cancelled

for whatever reason.

Please note that for personal reasons, there will be no Sunday comments next week, and the

update of results for w/e 10 May will not be done until around the start of the week following.

They will be completed as soon as possible.

SUNDAY 27 APRIL

Sorry to have to say that another team has had to drop out from the league due

to shortage of players. Queens Park have now resigned from Thursday Division 7

and this will now mean 2 BYES in the division.

Still 11 match results missing from last Thursday's fixtures. Please get them in the

post box immediately after the match to give them a chance of arriving on

Saturday morning.

SUNDAY 20 APRIL

So far, I have had no response from the teams listed below. I will do my best to

keep you all well informed, but I do need a little help occasionally.

All leagues now well under way, and with it the usual silly errors on result cards

which do take a little time to sort. It would make my job easier if you all took

that bit of extra care to ensure that the details on the card were checked before

you send it.

TUESDAY 15 APRIL

Follow up to my comments on Sunday 13th. All the remaining results from

Thursday matches were received on Monday morning. No way of knowing if

the Royal mail have delayed them, or if they were posted later than they could

have been. I am naming the clubs concerned, simply to try to establish the trend,

and I would appreciate some feed back from the home clubs concerned.

As I mentioned below on Sunday, the new 'Allbut' system now gives a fully

comprehensive report on all the statistics associated with the match results,

and is available to you more quickly than ever before. All clubs must have

someone who has access to the internet, to make these details known to their

club members on a regular basis.

SUNDAY 13 APRIL

Season is now underway, and as usual accompanied by the unsettled weather.

I am making good progress with the new 'ALLBUT' system, but it's always

quite a slow process in getting all the information recorded at the start of the

season. It would help me if all the match result cards came in on time, but this

does depend a lot on the Royal Mail performing as it should, and equally important

is that all clubs get the cards into the post box very quickly after the match is over.

This week all the Senior Cits and Ladies results were in by Friday lunchtime, but

I am still short of 13 Thursday results out of 35. Please make a real effort every week!!

which are available from the 'Allbut' system. Having entered all the results received,

you now have a much more comprehensive and detailed view of how things are

progressing in your division, and everyone else if you want.

THURSDAY 10 APRIL

Unfortunately, another team has had to resign from the league at this

early stage, due to shortage of players.

SENIOR CITS - CHURCHFIELD TAVERN have dropped out of DIV 2.

All other clubs please make sure to notify your players.

Web Site Fixtures will be revised to show a BYE. Now only 13 teams in the division.

The Thursday Division 5 team is unaffected, and will play as scheduled.

SUNDAY 6 APRIL

I have now entered all the results received for the Senior Cits matches played

last Wednesday, onto the new 'Allbut System', which has been set up, installed

and advice/tuition in the use of, by Paul Hickman. Thank you Paul , for

your time and patience, spent with me.

Unfortunately, the poor service from the Royal Mail, which we experienced to

a large extent in the latter half of last season, has now carried over to this.

I have so far received 21 result cards out of 28 from last weeks matches.

(4 hand delivered and 17 by post on Thursday (approx 12.30pm)

None have been received since, on either Friday or Saturday, and I am hoping

that these will arrive on Monday. I do not believe that 7 clubs have all posted their

cards late or not at all, and I have asked all 7 clubs concerned to let me know when

it was, so that we can then question the Royal Mail on this issue.

WEDNESDAY 2 APRIL

Stop Press News - I was informed last night that the WOODMAN BR 'A'

have dropped out of Thursday Division 1.

Now only 11 teams in the division. Woodman BR will now be a BYE.

TALLBOATS 'A' are the first team affected for the start on Thursday 10 April

OTHER TEAMS IN THIS DIVISION PLEASE NOTE

I will be revising the fixtures ASAP BUT unfortunately it will mean a BYE in this division.

WEDNESDAY 19 MARCH

Stop Press News - Email from Derek Brookes today informing me that the Cock Inn have

dropped out of Thursday Division 6.

I will be revising the fixtures ASAP and unfortunately it will mean an

additional BYE in this division.

SATURDAY 16 FEBRUARY

THE NEW SEASON IS APPROACHING VERY QUICKLY

The Management Committee would like to welcome Scott Deakin

as the new Mens & Ladies Competition Secretary for 2008 and wish him well in the job.

Scott will take over from Mandy Pagett, who has done an excellent job in

recent seasons, but is now resigning to explore new ventures.

During the close season, the management committee have decided that the collation and presentation

of League Statistics (ie Tables, Individual Averages, etc;) will be done by changing to the

"ALL BUT!" Crown Green Bowling Data System

Some of you may already be familiar with this system, which is already in use in other local leagues.

Anyway like it or not, this is what we will have for the coming season.

I am now in the system changeover situation, under the expert guidance of Paul Hickman.

Please be patient, and eventually all will be revealed, and hopefully, understood.

It is hoped to have the league fixtures available for viewing on the website very soon.

A FEW CHANGES SINCE THE AGM IN JANUARY

THURSDAY

Hadcroft resigned from Div 4 Kingswinford Cons entered a second team into Div 7

Dudley Sports 'B' moved up from Div 7 to Div 6

Romsley 'B' moved up from Div 6 to Div 5

WBFS 'A' moved up from Div 5 to Div 4

We now have:- 12 teams in Div 1 & 11 teams in all other divisions

Londonderry Ladies have moved, and will play as Wernley/Londonderry on the Wernley Green

Cradley Heath Libs will be playing on their new green in the High Street

WMT will now play as Rowley LC 'B'

Woodman Brockmoor Pub will be closing shortly and the teams will be playing as :-

Woodman BR 'A' on Lye & Wollescote Park
